custom made decoupage under glass

Decoupage,
     the art of cutting paper images and shapes and replacing on another surface, is an ancient skill which achieved a resurgence of popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries.
To create
     my original designs, many separate pieces of paper are individually applied to the back of a clear glass surface. When my design is finally set into place, the back of the glass is painted and coated with several applications of lacquer, which protect and seal each piece.
My plates
     are meant to be used as well as displayed. All my dinnerware may be eaten from. They are all hand washable. Do not place them in the dishwasher or microwave. Do not soak them in the sink. In addition to the items detailed on this site, I have over 150 other images in dozens of categories--these are only a brief sampling.

I have had my company, MARY NELL'S, for the last 10 years. My work is in many private collections, and I have sold one-of-a-kind pieces to galleries in Japan, Russia, England and Saudi Arabia. I have created special commissions for the Pierpont Morgan Library, The Asia Society and the Museum of American Folk Art. My work has been specially featured in Victoria, Family Circle, Bride's, Gifts and Decorative Accessories, and Woman's Day. I am one of a handful of entrepreneurs, selected from over 2,000 women, to be featured in the best-selling book The Business of Bliss.

I am a bridal source for various publications and have appeared on Our Home demonstrating my decoupage process. There are now over 150 designs in my line which sell to stores and boutiques throughout the country. I also design exclusive pieces for various catalogues.

Each one of my pieces is an original, designed exclusively by me and signed "Mary Nell". For an additional design fee, special orders can be created. I work in conjunction with various decorators, stores and catalogues, creating exclusive artwork.

SALES EVENT!

On the first Sunday of every month, between 3:00 and 5:00, I will be opening up my studio to customers. All my discontinued designs, as well as some original one-of-a-kind pieces will be on sale at practically wholesale prices. This includes dessert, luncheon and dinner size plates, as well as platters and bowls.

In addition, I will be selling my original jewelry pieces. Each one of these pins is a tiny collage, embellished with antique pearls, brass, crystals, semi-precious stones, etc. Prices for these unique pieces of wearable art range from approximately $25 to $50.
